Does Chat Exporter for Teams need admin rights?
No. It reads the Microsoft Teams tab you are already signed in to, the same conversations you can see yourself. There is no admin export to request, no IT ticket and no password to enter.
Does it work with personal and work Teams?
Both. It works with work or school accounts on teams.microsoft.com and with personal accounts on teams.live.com, for your one-to-one, group, meeting and channel chats.
Can the PDF be used as evidence?
The PDF dates every message and carries a SHA-256 integrity fingerprint, so you can show the export has not been altered. That makes it useful for records and disputes, but it is not legal advice: whether it is accepted depends on the context and the people who review it.
Can my company see that I exported a chat?
The extension runs in your browser and the export is saved straight to your computer; nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Your employer can still have its own policies about work data, so check what you are allowed to keep before you export a work conversation.
How far back can it export?
It exports the messages Teams has loaded in the tab. For a long history, scroll up in the conversation so Teams loads the older messages first, then run the export: everything that is loaded is saved.
