Terms of service

These terms apply to the FB Group Exporter browser extension (“the extension”), this website and Pro licenses (together, “the service”). By installing or using the extension, or buying a license, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. What the extension does

The extension lets you save, from Facebook groups you can already access while logged in, the content displayed to you: posts, comments and replies, author names and profile links, dates, reactions and comment counts, links, photo descriptions and (optionally) photos. It stores that content locally in your browser and lets you search it and export it to files (CSV, HTML, JSON, JSONL, Markdown). We never receive this content.

2. You are responsible for how you use it

You are solely responsible for your use of the extension and of any content you download, store, export, analyse or share with it. In particular, you agree that:

• you will comply with all laws that apply to you, including data protection and privacy laws (such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws), copyright and database rights, and laws on computer misuse or automated access;
• you are responsible for having a lawful basis, and any notices or consents required, before processing other people's personal data contained in exports;
• you will respect Facebook's / Meta's terms and policies and each group's rules. Automated collection may be restricted by those terms, and you use the extension with your account at your own risk;
• you will not use the service to harass, stalk, spam, discriminate against or profile people, to sell or publish personal data, to infringe anyone's rights, or for any unlawful purpose;
• you will only download groups you are allowed to view, and will not try to access content you don't have access to.

3. Account restrictions and Facebook changes

The extension includes pacing, daily limits and automatic stops to reduce the risk of account restrictions, but we cannot control Facebook. We are not responsible for any warning, limitation, suspension or loss of your Facebook account, or for content that cannot be downloaded. Facebook may change its website at any time in ways that affect the extension; we will make reasonable efforts to update it but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.

4. No affiliation

FB Group Exporter is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by Meta Platforms, Inc. “Facebook” and “FB” are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc., used here only to describe what the product works with.

5. Licenses

The free version is provided with usage limits. A Pro license ($24.90, one-time, plus applicable taxes) removes those limits for one active device at a time, for as long as the product is offered. Licenses are personal: you may move yours by unpairing it, but you may not share, resell or publish license keys, or attempt to bypass licensing. We may revoke licenses that are refunded, charged back, obtained fraudulently, shared or used in breach of these terms.

6. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh) as merchant of record, which also collects and remits sales tax/VAT. See our refund policy.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or completeness of downloaded data, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, accounts or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service or from content you download or share. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, fines and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, the content you download or share, or your breach of these terms or of any law or third-party right.

10. Termination

You can stop using the service at any time by removing the extension. We may suspend or revoke access if you breach these terms.

11. Changes and contact
