How to export the members of a Facebook group
Facebook shows a group's members on its Members tab but gives you no way to download the list. If you run or help moderate a community, or simply want the roster of a group you belong to, here is how to get every member into a spreadsheet, with their profile link, join date and role, in a couple of minutes.

Step by step
- Install Group Exporter for Facebook. Add it to Chrome, Edge or Brave and activate Pro (the member list is a Pro feature).
- Open the Members page. In the extension dashboard, click Members and read the short personal-data notice once.
- Open your group and start. Open the group you belong to (facebook.com/groups/…), then click "Export members". The extension opens the group's Members tab and reads everyone Facebook lists, admins and moderators first, then the rest.
- Download the file. Click "Download CSV" to open it in Excel or Google Sheets, or JSON for other tools. Each row has the name, profile link, Facebook ID, the date they joined and their role.
Why Facebook has no member export
Facebook lists a group's members on the Members tab, but there is no download button, no CSV and no report. Its "Download your information" tool only covers your own activity, never a group's roster. The list is visible, but stuck on the page.
Copying names by hand loses the profile links and join dates, and it stops being realistic past a few dozen people. A group with thousands of members is impossible to collect that way.
What you get for every member
One row per member, with the name, a link to their profile, their Facebook ID, the date they joined the group (when Facebook shows it) and their role: admin, moderator or member. The file opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, and JSON is there for other tools.
Because every member is a row, you can sort by join date to see who is new, filter to admins and moderators to list your team, or keep the roster for a welcome message, a membership review or a simple record of who was in the group and when.
Only groups you belong to
The extension reads the Members tab through your own logged-in session, so it can export only groups you have joined and can already open. Private groups you are a member of work exactly like public ones; a group you have not joined is out of reach, because Facebook does not show you its members either.
It never asks for your Facebook password and never sends your cookies anywhere. The list is built in your browser and saved to your computer: we never receive it.
Member lists are personal data: use them lawfully
A member list is personal data, the names and profiles of real people. Use it for a legitimate purpose tied to your own community, such as welcoming new members, reviewing your membership or contacting people who expect to hear from the group. Keep it only as long as you need it, and don't repurpose it for unrelated marketing or share it outside the group.
In the EU, the GDPR expects a lawful basis such as legitimate interest before you process personal data, and members keep their rights over it. Check the group's own rules too: many ask that member information stays inside the group.
Free version and Pro
The free version downloads a group's posts and comments (up to 200 posts of one group) so you can try it. The member list is part of Pro ($24.90 once), together with unlimited groups and posts, event guest lists, the offline HTML/PDF archive, AI-ready files, photos in a ZIP and daily automatic updates.
